Indianapolis Colts Face Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10

Guten tag, football fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.

Pregame Highlights

When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.

Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.

Opening Period Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

Here we go! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. Advantage Atlanta.

Additional Week 10 Matchups

And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Chicago Bears v New York Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

What a feast. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
