News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

A Significant Comeback for the Franchise

The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Speculation suggests their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, considering the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The supporting roles feature several notable actors in pivotal roles:

  • Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the shoot:
