Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world offered condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
